Cineflix Rights closes European presales for Sinking Cities ahead of MIPTV 2018

March 27, 2018

Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has presold new series Sinking Cities to broadcasters across Europe.

Sinking Cities (4×60’, Cineflix Productions) follows local planners, first-responders, scientists, and engineers in four of the world’s most famous coastal cities as they gear up for an epic battle with climate change. Facing rising sea levels and intensifying weather systems, they’re fighting a global threat that’s forcing people to rethink the very nature of their existence. Every episode of this gripping science and technology series explores a different hot spot as London, New York, Tokyo, and Miami reimagine their future.

Set to premiere in the US later this year, Sinking Cities will also air in multiple territories across Europe following the presales to Discovery Europe and RMC Découverte France. Cineflix Rights expects to ink further presale deals before launching the show at MIPTV 2018.

Chris Bonney, CEO Rights, Cineflix Media said: “At Cineflix Rights we provide our producers with the right financing options to get their projects made for the international market and deliver them the best sales results. Sinking Cities is a prime example–a high quality and incredibly topical series that resonates with buyers and audiences worldwide.”

Sinking Cities is being produced in association with THIRTEEN Productions LLC for WNET as part of the public media initiative Peril and Promise: The Challenge of Climate Change.

The deal with Discovery Europe was closed by Sandra Piha, SVP, Program Sales Pan-Regional, UK, Éire, and Scandinavia, while the RMC Découverte deal was closed by Sabrina Ayala, SVP, Sales France, Italy, Iberia, and Latin America.
