–Clive Standen joins international thriller series, filming starts April 1st–
–Directed by Louis Choquette–
–Cineflix Rights takes worldwide rights–
France’s Lincoln TV and Connect3 Media Inc., the Cineflix Media owned production company, today announced the start of production on the six-episode, one-hour scripted series Mirage , an intensely exciting spy thriller with a highly emotional love triangle at its heart.
Mirage is the first project created by the European Alliance union of public broadcasters France Télévisions, RAI and ZDF, which was founded in May 2018.
The series stars Marie-Josée Croze (Jack Ryan, The Barbarian Invasions), Clive Standen (Vikings, Taken), Hannes Jaenicke (Sardsch, Code Name: Eternity), Shawn Doyle (House of Cards, Frontier), and Grégory Fitoussi (Spiral, Spin). Mirage is directed by Louis Choquette (Versailles, 19-2) and created and written by Franck Philippon (No Limit, The Tunnel), Benedicte Charles (La Légiste), and Olivier Pouponneau (Surveillance, Watch Your Lip!). Franck Philippon is among the Executive Producers and Marc Gabizon is Associate Producer. It begins shooting in Abu Dhabi and Morocco in early April and is slated to deliver in late 2019.
A France/Canada production commissioned by France Télévisions, ZDF, Bell Media and Super Channel, Mirage is produced by Lincoln TV and Connect3 in partnership with Wild Bunch Germany.
Mirage is set against the backdrop of a futuristic cityscape—on its glittering surface is a world of fabulous wealth and opportunity, but underneath hides a much more mysterious side. The series tells the enthralling story of Claire (Croze)—an expatriate starting over in Abu Dhabi with her son and husband Lukas (Jaenicke). Claire is thrust into the shadowy world of espionage after she discovers that her former husband Gabriel (Standen), who supposedly died fifteen years ago, is alive.
Cineflix Rights has secured worldwide distribution rights to the series, including the US and UK. Julien Leroux, SVP, Global Scripted Co-Productions for Cineflix Media, will be presenting the series at MIPTV.
“Since the 4th edition of the Series Mania Festival five years ago, where this mesmerizing pitch was first introduced, we’ve been working on this incredible material and we are now proud to see this mirage come to life with all these international talents attached,” said Christine de Bourbon Busset and Marc Missonnier, Producers for Lincoln TV.
Pablo Salzman, President, Connect3, said: “Together with Lincoln TV, we’ve assembled a terrific team to take viewers on the exhilarating Mirage journey told by an incredible cast, under the direction of award-winning Louis Choquette. We’re bringing international audiences engaging content like Mirage by connecting talented creative partners with the right platforms and broadcasters - which has been part of the company’s ethos from day one.”
“I’m looking forward to showcasing this bold, premium scripted series to the global marketplace,” added Julien Leroux, SVP, Global Scripted Co-Productions for Cineflix Media. “Mirage’s riveting storyline coupled with high-octane action and emotional twists and turns will leave buyers wanting more for their audiences.”
