Cineflix Rights sells more than 200 hours of content to Nordic broadcasters

Feb 15, 2019

Cineflix Rights, the UK’s largest independent TV content distributor, has signed multiple sales deals with Nordic broadcasters, totalling more than 200 hours of content.

The Day We Walked on the Moon (1x60’, Finestripe Productions for ITV and Smithsonian Networks US), the inside story of the first moon landing, 50 years ago, told from the unique, first-hand perspective of key figures on the Apollo 11 Mission and those left behind on earth, has been acquired by TV4 Sweden, DR Denmark, Neolonen Finland, and NRK Norway.

NRK Norway has also bought Sinking Cities (5x60’, Cineflix Productions for PBS US and RMC France) which follows local planners, first-responders, scientists, and engineers as they gear up for an epic battle with climate change; and The Wall (6x60’, Rondo Media and JTV for S4C Wales and TG4 Ireland), a compelling series exploring six of the world’s most iconic walls and borders.

TV4 Sweden has acquired the gripping true-crime series Children of the Snow (4x60’, Cineflix Productions for Investigation Discovery US), and Paramedics: Emergency Response (12x30’, Fahrenheit Films for CityTV Canada), which follows first responders as they race through the streets to answer 911 calls.

History titles continue to perform well in the region, with WWII’s Great Escapes: The Freedom Trails (4x60’, Seadog Productions for Channel 4) acquired by SVT Sweden, DR Denmark, and Viasat World Nordics, The Cold Blue (1x60’, Creative Differences and Vulcan Productions for HBO) bought by DR Denmark, and Going to War (1x60’, Vulcan Productions for PBS US and TPT US) sold to NRK Norway.

Cineflix Rights’ global hit lifestyle franchises fronted by Drew and Jonathan Scott are also in great demand, with pan-regional broadcaster Discovery Networks Nordic acquiring Property Brothers (Seasons 1-7, 169x60’, Cineflix Productions for HGTV US and Canada) and Stöð 3 Iceland buying Brother vs Brother (Seasons 4-6, 18x60’, Scott Brothers Entertainment for HGTV US).

Sandra Piha, SVP, Program Sales, Pan-Regional, UK, Eire, and Scandinavia, Cineflix Rights, who concluded the deals said: “Scandinavia continues to be a highly competitive market. The quality of some of the latest additions to Cineflix Rights’ catalogue is reflected in the volume of our recent sales across the region, which encompasses a range of genres including science, history, crime and investigation, and lifestyle.”
