Cineflix Media Inc. announced today that leading international television executive Peter Emerson has acquired a minority stake in the Company and is taking on the role of President, Cineflix Media Inc.
Emerson, previously President of eOne Television International, is teaming up with executive management to lead Cineflix Media’s growth initiatives. In addition to Emerson’s investment in the Company, Cineflix is securing new financing with leading US banks which will include a senior operating line, plus significant funding for acquisitions and content partnerships to drive growth.
Based in the Company’s Toronto office, Emerson will report to Cineflix Media Co-Founders and Co-CEOs Glen Salzman and Katherine Buck, who said: “We are delighted that Peter is coming on board. He brings a wealth of experience, industry relationships, and entrepreneurial vision that complement Cineflix’s growth strategy.”
Peter Emerson said: “Glen and Katherine have built a great company with a solid international infrastructure that is now poised for scalable growth. With the new financing in place, Cineflix has a clear path to build the Company into a content production and distribution powerhouse.”
Chris Bonney continues as CEO, Cineflix Rights and Charles Tremayne as President, Cineflix Productions and both continue to report to Glen Salzman.
Alongside some of the world’s longest running unscripted brands including American Pickers, Property Brothers, and Mayday, Cineflix has been ramping up its scripted activity with the recent hire of Brett Burlock SVP, Scripted and last week’s production and distribution announcement of PURE, a highly anticipated drama series with Two East Productions for CBC. The second season of gritty biker drama Gangland Undercover launches on A&E in December and the Company is also expanding into movies of the week. Cineflix Rights and joint venture partner Buccaneer Media rolled out Marcella, one of the UK’s highest rated scripted shows in 2016, now renewed for a second season with ITV in the UK and globally on Netflix.
Prior to eOne, where he oversaw all aspects of the Company’s international television activities including sales, acquisitions, co-productions, production financing, and strategic partnerships, Emerson built Oasis International and was a partner in Blueprint Productions, which were both acquired by eOne in 2008 to form eOne Television.
