Cineflix Media Inc. announced today that seasoned industry executive Brett Burlock is joining the company as SVP of Scripted.
As a senior member of the creative team, Burlock will source and develop scripted series and MOWs for the US, Canadian, and international markets. Using his strong relationships with producers, showrunners, writers, and networks he will develop programming internally and with third party co-production partners. Burlock will be based in Toronto.
Cineflix Media Co-Founder and Co-CEO Glen Salzman said: “Brett has the reputation for bringing together talented writers and producers to develop and produce must-have series for networks around the globe. He’s the perfect fit with our strategy to push further into the scripted space.”
Brett Burlock added: “With its global distribution business and exciting strategic relationships with the likes of Participant Media and the UK’s Buccaneer Media, Cineflix is uniquely positioned to draw from an international talent pool to expand on the success of compelling series such as Gangland Undercover and Buccaneer’s Marcella. I’m thrilled to be joining such a dynamic indie and building on their momentum.”
Burlock was previously VP at Sea to Sky, a cross border studio partnership between Lionsgate Television and Frank Giustra’s Thunderbird Films where series greenlit into production included Syfy’s Ascension with CBC and SKY, Guilt for FREEFORM, and ABC’s upcoming Sex, Lies & Handwriting with RTL and TF1. Prior to Sea to Sky, Burlock headed up scripted development for Take 5 and was the VP of Development for CTV where he guided all creative matters and oversaw CTV’s original production slate that included US network co-productions The Bridge and Flashpoint with CBS and Emmy®-nominated The Borgias with Showtime.
